A Super Blue Blood Moon has occurred on January 31, 2018. This is when the moon is closer to the earth than usual, it is the second full moon in one month, and a lunar eclipse happened, all at the same time! If you missed this rare occasion, don’t worry, you can see it once again in 19 years,
in 2037. If you’re not familiar what a lunar eclipse is, it is when the Earth’s shadow covers the moon from the sun, while during a solar eclipse, the moon blocks the sun from the earth. Lunar eclipses happen a couple times every year, and they call it the ‘blood moon’ because the earth shadow creates a reddish tint on the moon. The super blue blood moon was totally worth watching. I know it’s a pain to wake up early in the morning, and being out in the dark, cold outdoors, but once you see that big, beautiful red moon in the sky, it’s all worth it in the end and you’re glad you saw the super blue blood moon. If you missed it, however, there are plenty of other lunar eclipses to come, but you can gladly wait 19 years for the next super blue blood moon.
