Have you ever heard of a trend called the “Tide Pod Challenge?” If you didn’t, then don’t worry because I’m here to inform you of what this challenge is. The “Tide Pods Challenge” has recently been circulating around the internet and the challenge is eating the detetergent pods, which can be fatal.  People do this not because they want to die, but because it looks “tasty” and it’s a “trend.”

According to the American Association of Poison Control Centers, there were more than “12,299 reported exposures to highly concentrated laundry detergent pods in 2017. Most reports involved children ages 5 and under. That’s down 14 percent since 2015, when the centers answered more than 14,000 calls.”

No, you do not earn anything from doing this except a trip to the hospital. People usually do this to get attention and because they want views and they think they’re so “cool”. I understand you want to be “up to date” and “in the trend” but PLEASE do not do this stupid trend. (Sometimes, I wonder what the world has come to.) I do not recommend people to do this.  No one really knows who or what started this trend, but the effects of digesting these pods are serious. These include: severe vomiting, severe breathing trouble, burns to the esophagus, and coma, as well as burns to the eyes and skin. Tide pods are not meant to be eaten, (it says in the warning label) the purpose of this is to clean CLOTHES, and not your MOUTH. If you really want to eat something, I recommend you eating REAL EDIBLE FOOD and not tide pods. USE SOME COMMON SENSE, PEOPLE!
