Carter G. Woodson was a writer, journalist, and historian. He was known as the Father of Black History because he founded Black History Month, which used to be Black History Week. He published a book called, The Mis-Education of the Negro. He was the second African American who received a doctorate from Harvard. Woodson dedicated his career to the history of African-Americans. He is the founder of the Association for the Study of Black Life and History. He also created the Negro History Bulletin for teachers and students.
